Montgomery gets South Windsor to winner's circle

Jan. 4—Hakim Montgomery saved his best for last for the South Windsor High boys basketball team Tuesday night.

The senior scored 14 of his team-high 19 points in the fourth quarter as the Bobcats rallied to beat E.O. Smith 66-61 in a CCC East game in South Windsor.

It's the first win of the season for South Windsor (1-5).

The Bobcats led 15-14 after a quarter before being outscored 18-9 in the second to fall behind at the half. The hosts trimmed the deficit to two, 46-44, entering the third before outscoring the Panthers (2-2) 22-15 in the fourth.

London King added 17 points in the win while Joey Bemis and Colby Carr each had nine. Sammy DeJesus scored a game-high 22 for E.O. Smith while Noah Cordone had 19.

South Windsor is back in action Thursday when it entertains Plainville.

ENFIELD 69, EAST HARTFORD 54. In Enfield, Isaiah Plummer recorded a game-high 24 points to lead the Eagles to a CCC East win, their third in a row.

Enfield (4-2) led 17-9 after the first quarter before taking a 28-21 edge into the half. The Eagles led by 10 entering the fourth.

Alex Herron posted a double-double of 10 points and 18 rebounds in the win. Teammate Tae Jarrett added 11 points while sophomore Jason Mahon had 10. Lamar Davis grabbed 10 rebounds for Enfield.

Dom LaDuca paced East Hartford (1-4) with 23 points. Teammate Chris Brown added 10.

The Hornets travel to Avon Thursday while Enfield is at Hall Friday.

EAST CATHOLIC 89, TOLLAND 48. In Manchester, Preston Fowler scored all 14 of his points in the first half as No. 1 East Catholic rolled to a CCC East win.

Raymond Rodriguez and Leondre Sanchez also finished with 14 points for East Catholic (6-0), which led 50-15 at the break. Rob Elliott chipped in 11 points. Cameron Lumia had 11 points for Tolland (0-4).

East Catholic is at No. 3 Windsor Friday. Tolland visits Newington Thursday.

MANCHESTER 59, RHAM 43. In Manchester, Quentin Ford scored nine of his 17 points in the fourth quarter as the host Red Hawks pulled away for a CCC East win.

Manchester (4-2) led by one after three quarters before outscoring RHAM 24-9 over the final 8:00. Damian Sanchez added nine points, five in the fourth quarter, for the Red Hawks.

The Raptors (3-2) received 16 points from Casper Miazga and 15 from Troy Miller.

RHAM travels to Bloomfield Friday. Manchester entertains No. 2 Northwest Catholic Thursday.

WINDSOR 90, WETHERSFIELD 53. Rashawn Tibby posted a double-double of 28 points and 14 rebounds as the host Warriors picked up a CCC North victory.

Windsor (7-0), which was ranked No. 3 in this week's GameTimeCT/New Haven Register state media poll, led 24-5 after a quarter and 52-21 at the half.

Tibby added five blocks and four assists to statline. Teammate Anthony Williams finished with 17 points and three steals. Gyan Davis (14 points) and Jakeel Martin (12 points) also played well for the hosts.

Tom Daly's 16 points paced Wethersfield (2-3).

Windsor returns to the court Friday when it hosts No. 1 East Catholic.

CHENEY TECH 77, GOODWIN TECH 64. In Manchester, Dam'nic Gittens recorded a double-double of 32 points and 15 rebounds in Cheney Tech's CTC win.

Ayden Brookins added 14 points and Justin Szrenja 12 for the Beavers (3-2), who pulled away in the third quarter to take a 12-point lead.

Cheney Tech hosts Vinal Tech Friday.

TOURTELLOTTE 50, EAST WINDSOR 48. In East Windsor, Daniel Boutin had 16 points as Tourtellotte picked up a non-league win.

Jake Patterson added 14 points for the Tigers (2-3), who led 29-21 at halftime. The Panthers (0-3) received 13 points from Russell Williams and 11 from Nathan Rodriguez.

East Windsor is at Housatonic Friday.
