Montgomery Public Schools expects potential bus delays in aftermath of massive I-85 crash

After a multi-vehicle accident damaged the South Perry Street overpass on I-85 Tuesday morning, Montgomery Public Schools cautioned parents and guardians about potential delays in the afternoon bus schedule for students leaving school.

"We appreciate your patience and support as we work to transport our students home safely," MPS spokesperson Jade Jones said in a text alert.

Three cars and one 18-wheeler collided into an overpass support beam around 7:30 a.m. headed southbound. There were no serious injuries, but the incident resulted in road closures, detours and backed-up traffic throughout the day.

Southbound traffic from the Eastern Boulevard exit to the Union Street exit will remain closed until at least 6 p.m., according to ALGO Traffic.
