Montgomery teen killed, two Walden teens hurt in Port Jervis stabbing

PORT JERVIS - One teenage male was stabbed to death and two others were wounded during a confrontation in Port Jervis early Wednesday morning.

City police said they responded to Bon Secours Community Hospital at 2:35 a.m. Wednesday for a report of three patients who had arrived at the emergency room with stab wounds.

Police said a subsequent investigation learned the three had been stabbed during a fight between two groups of people on Jersey Avenue near the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue.

City police identified the dead man as Destin Rabess, 18, of Montgomery. He was pronounced dead by the attending physician at Bon Secours.

The two other stabbing victims were both males from Walden, one age 17 and one age 16. Police said the 17-year-old was transported to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, where he remains in critical but stable condition. The 16-year-old was treated at Bon Secours and released.

No arrests have been reported.

Port Jervis police said they are investigating the stabbing with the state police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Major Crimes and Forensic Identification units, Orange County's sheriff's and district attorney's offices, and the Hudson Valley Crime Analysis Center.

Police said further details about the case cannot be released at this time because of the active investigation.
