The Moon is a boss. From more than 200,000 miles away, it may look serene, but its power is in instability—its orbit and gravitational pull not only control tidal forces but our emotions too. And unlike the Sun (which takes 30-odd days to move through each star sign, hence the 12 signs of the zodiac in one year), the Moon moves rapidly, spending only two to three days in each sign. This volatility, as well as the Moon’s proximity to us, means it has a more significant and variable impact on our everyday energy than other planets do.

The Moon has been consistently associated with fertility and feminine power (sexual energy peaks around a Full Moon, which starts on the 15th), so you might as well align your love life with lunar movements. Better sex and better relationships simply by paying attention to the Moon? YES, PLEASE.

July 31: NEW MOON IN LEO

Expect unexpected changes in your love life with this Leo Moon! Leo is all about confidence and going for what you truly desire, so step forward and ask for what you need in your relationships.

New Moons are always an ideal time for making a fresh start, questioning old habits, and seeking out new ways to get ahead, and the presence of Leo directs this towards your love life in particular. Single people, be warned: you'll likely be drawn to more eccentric characters, aka SO not your usual type (which can be a good thing re: expanding your options or lead to a really weird fling).

Meanwhile, couples may find themselves in the midst of some serious drama–which may or may not involve cheating. It’s a tad cray cray! If you’re happy where you’re at with your boo, then perhaps it’s time to draw the blinds and wait for the lunar beams to pass you both by.

The fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) will be impacted the most, but everyone should probably buckle up for a bumpy ride–expect the unexpected!

August 2-3: MOON IN VIRGO

Pay attention to the small stuff. When the Moon is in Virgo, people wanna be organized and in control of all the deets. Examine your closest relationships, identify the little things that have made a noticeable difference recently, and consciously acknowledge what you both contribute to the relationship (both good and bad).

If you're single, head out someplace that has detoxing or cleansing benefits (like a juice bar or spa-type deal), or squeeze in some new habits or hobbies into your schedule. You gotta put this responsible energy to good use!

August 9-10: MOON IN SAGITTARIUS

Now that the Moon is back in Sagittarius, we can all kick back and have some fun! It’s time to go on the prowl, embrace your adventurous side, and hey, even take a few risks!

Ride on these upbeat vibes and take a trip, book a last-min vacay, or embark on a more daring or physically-challenging outing than you'd usually go for (pssst, the perfect chance to meet a rock-climbing bae). In the bedroom, a lil bit of experimentation will go a long way in heightening how hot you are for each other, so get out the toys and play.

August 15: FULL MOON IN AQUARIUS

Also known as the Sturgeon Moon, because that fish would be waaaaay easier to catch in North America during this time. Weirdly, it can apply to your love life, too (re: "plenty of fish in the sea"), because the Aquarian energy of this Moon directs us all to look to more unconventional sources to find romance, satisfaction and connection.

If we keep on repeating the same patterns, we’ll keep on getting the same results, and Aquarius is all about pushing those boundaries and embracing the more unique people we encounter (or, if you're already in a relationship, it encourages you to explore your kinkier side).

This airy vibe is also a nod to being conscious of not coming from a place of ego when dealing with others, or of needing to be "right" with your partner. Assertion is good, but do it without stepping on others’ toes–this is the key to being heard and supported.

August 19-20: MOON IN ARIES

BOOM–Aries is back in town! Be careful not to fall prey to the impulsive, fiery, and sometimes tactless nature of this Moon’s influence, because you and bae could be on the outs if you do. However, there’s no doubt you’ll be feeling like speaking your mind, and following your instincts and passions, which, in a sexual context, can make for some especially smoldering bedroom romps.

Meanwhile, re: any lingering exes or situationships you’ve been stringing along (or have been strung along by), NOW is the time to cut your losses. Clear the decks of false, fading or negative relationship energies and make a clean slate. New loves and flirtations will swiftly emerge as a result.

August 23-25: MOON IN GEMINI

Hope you’re ready for an "anything goes" kind of weekend because the Gemini Moon is aaaaaall about fantasy. Role playing, sexting, dirty talk (or all of the above) are on the table, so go HAM!

But...watch out for any mind games you feel embroiled in, especially ones where you feel like you have the losing hand. Just fade yourself out of that mess. And for those in relationships, you may feel restless or even stifled. Schedule out some you-time or a night with your besties–you likely just need a lil space.

August 26-27: MOON IN CANCER

When the Moon is in Cancer, everyone thirsts for peace, harmony and fulfillment in their relationships. Cancer’s planetary ruler is the Moon, so the two influences feel at home together, and this smooth vibe makes everyone want to cozy up together more.

So if you're with someone, make this date night a staycation–but keep it romantic and indulgent, because Cancer is all about maximizing pleasure. Make your nest a place that you and your object of affection never want to leave, so that friends may have to send out a search party (ignore them).

For actual Cancers, this Moon is a "dream come true" phase, when you feel lucky, desirable and buzzing with lunar energy, while Cancer’s opposite sign, Capricorn, may feel more at odds with others and not on the same page. Just chill, Caps–it'll pass!
