Moorestown School Board To Discuss Budget Changes Next Week

MOORESTOWN, NJ — The Moorestown Public School District Board of Education will hold a special meeting to adjust the district’s budget due to reductions in state aid next week.

The meeting will be held via Zoom at 8 a.m. on Aug. 12, the district announced on its website. The board may go into executive session, and action will be taken.

In the spring, the Moorestown Board of Education approved a $75,656,895 budget that included a 2.39 percent tax rate increase.

The budget included layoffs of 16 staff members and introduced fees for students to play sports and park their cars.

Later in the spring, a report by the Senator Walter Rand Institute for Public Affairs at Rutgers University–Camden said the district may have to raise taxes if the state reduces state aid by 10 percent due to the pandemic.
