Mooresville’s two mayoral candidates on Friday debated issues ranging from handling the town’s rapid growth to recruiting more police.
The forum at FeedNC on U.S. 21 was a partnership between The Charlotte Observer, Neighborhood TV and WSOC-TV.
Candidates Chris Carney and Bobby Compton attended the event. Moderators for the forum were WSOC-TV reporter Joe Bruno and Observer reporter Joe Marusak.
Carney is a former Mooresville town commissioner and state senator. Compton is a current Mooresville commissioner and former Mooresville fire marshal and longtime firefighter.
The candidates also addressed questions about packed roads, the proposed Red Line commuter rail, Josh’s Farmers Market and renaming roads tied to white supremacy.
