When Sunday, June 26 rolls around, there will be one local baseball player representing Morgan County in the 2022 Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association North/South All-Star game.

The success Mooresville had this season en route to a sectional championship is no secret, and the Pioneers' key contributor, Nick Wiley, played one of, if not the biggest, roles for the team, which finished 27-4.

Rebounding off an early sectional exit in 2021, Wiley and the rest of the Pioneers senior squad was determined to make their final year something to remember. He made sure of it.

Whether it was at the plate, on the mound, at first base, it didn't matter, Wiley consistently came through for Mooresville. That is what earned him a place as an Indiana All-Star.

From the offensive side, Wiley finished the year ranked nationally with a state leading 13 home runs, tying with various players for sixth most in the country. His slugging percentage of 1.031 was eighth best in Indiana.

But while slamming pitches out of the park is nice, helping teammates touch home plate is even nicer as he collected 51 RBIs (T-10 in county, second in Indiana). Wiley added 36 runs of his own all while batting a team-best .469.

Defensively, whether pitching or playing first base, he served as one of the Pioneers' most dependable. In fact, Wiley saw 155 total chances and converted it into 143 put outs and 11 assists, committing only one error all season.

From the mound, Wiley led all Pioneers in innings pitched with 48, going 7-0 and producing 58 strikeouts. He allowed only 20 runs and finished with an ERA of 1.74.

After competing in the All-Star game, Wiley is set to continue his baseball career at the collegiate level for Indiana Wesleyan University.
