Moped rider dies in Langlade County hit-and-run collision

ANTIGO - A 34-year-old White Lake man died Wednesday night after a hit-and-run collision in Langlade County.

According to a Langlade County Sheriff's Office media release, deputies responded at about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday to a collision involving a moped and a motor vehicle on Wilson School Road in the town of Evergreen, about 15 miles east of Antigo.

The 34-year-old moped driver died at the scene and his name is being withheld pending notification of family.

The driver of the motor vehicle, a 30-year-old White Lake man, fled the scene of the crash, but deputies later located him at a nearby residence.

The 30-year-old was taken into custody and has been referred to the Langlade County District Attorney's Office for a charge of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle. The sheriff's office said it will identify the man if a criminal complaint is filed.
