More than 1,000 new COVID-19 cases reported Saturday in Virginia
The Virginia Department of Health reported 1,057 coronavirus cases Sunday, bringing the state’s tally to 77,430.
Of the total cases, 74,490 are confirmed and 2,940 are probable, meaning those patients are symptomatic and have a known exposure to the illness.
At least 2,027 Virginians have died from the virus as of Sunday morning, up 2 from Saturday.
Throughout the state, there have been 7,560 cases in long-term care facilities and 1,192 deaths, according to data from the VDH.
The state’s seven-day percentage of positive PCR tests remained the same at 7.6%. Virginia reported 17,675 new PCR tests were performed, bringing the total to 904,423.
The number of people currently hospitalized for COVID-19 is 1,186, according to the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association. Of those, 733 have confirmed cases and 453 are awaiting test results. So far, 10,017 COVID-19 patients have been discharged. As of Sunday morning, 20% of the state’s ventilators are in use.

Newport News: 1,151 (up 122); 13 deaths (no chance)
Norfolk: 2,155 (up 21); 19 deaths (no change)
Northampton: 278 (no chance); 28 deaths (no change)
Poquoson: 26 (up 1); 0 deaths (no change)
Portsmouth: 966 (up 51); 20 deaths (no change)
Suffolk: 701 (up 25); 44 deaths (no change)
Virginia Beach 2,610 (up 146); 37 deaths (up 1)
Williamsburg: 94 (up 3); 6 deaths (no change)
York: 216 (up 16); 3 deaths (no change)
In Virginia, people older than 80 account for 3,861 cases and 1,015 deaths. Here’s how the rest of the age groups break down for cases and deaths:
70-79: 3,861 cases, 512 deaths
60-69: 7,375 cases, 298 deaths
50-59: 11,352 cases, 126 deaths
40-49: 13,241 cases, 54 deaths
30-39: 14,289 cases, 16 deaths
20-29: 14,144 cases, 4 deaths
10-19: 5,817 cases, 0 deaths
0-9: 2,635 cases, 0 deaths
The VDH did not report ages for 855 cases and two deaths.

Since the pandemic began in Virginia, 39,295 women have had cases and 1,007 women have died, while 37,649 men have had cases and 1,013 men have died. Of the state tally, 484 cases don’t have a reported sex and 7 deaths don’t have a reported sex.
