More than 1,700 people are evacuated from occupied areas of Kharkiv region - media

Volunteers have organised the safe evacuation of more than 1,700 people from the occupied areas of Kharkiv Oblast, despite the threat of attacks and provocations from the Russian occupiers.

Details: The volunteers said that those wishing to evacuate crossed the dam near the village of Pechenihy on foot. There they were met by volunteers from the humanitarian centres Help me Kharkiv, Eventroom, D20 Kharkiv and Unbreakable Kharkiv, together with representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

People from Kupiansk, Velykoburlutsk, Izium and Vovchansk Amalgamated Territorial Communities (hromadas) were among those who were evacuated.

Background: The last organised evacuation of residents of the occupied areas of Kharkiv Oblast took place on 30 May.
