More than 3,000 AEP Texas customers without power on Corpus Christi's southside

More than 3,000 AEP Texas customers on Corpus Christi's southside were without power Monday afternoon after crews restored power to the city's northside.

The AEP Texas outage map showed 2,188 were without power near Saratoga Boulevard and Everhart Road. An additional 1,030 on Everhart Road lost power.

According to AEP Texas, an estimated 1,890 residents and businesses in northwest Corpus Christi and 1,600 in Sinton were without power early Monday afternoon. According to AEP Texas' outage map, one of the outages was caused by tree contact.

High winds blew through the area on Monday ahead of Tuesday's cold front. The National Weather Service in Corpus Christi upgraded its Wind Advisory to a High Wind Warning for Kleberg and Nueces counties.

Winds up to 55 mph were expected in the area.

AEP Texas estimates power will be restored to the southside around 6 p.m.
