A Saturday morning house fire in the 600 block of Stewart Avenue caused more than $100,000 in damage, according to the Streetsboro Fire Department’s Facebook page.

Two adult occupants of the home received minor injuries and were treated at the scene, and the two children were uninjured, according to the fire department.

The American Red Cross is providing assistance to the family, which is now displaced from its home.

Six minutes after receiving a 911 call from one of the home’s occupants, the fire department arrived at 6:15 a.m. to find “heavy fire coming out of the front of the structure,” according to the Streetsboro Fire Department.

After an hour of fighting the blaze on several fronts, the fire was declared under control. A fire inspector remained on scene until around 10 a.m. and determined a candle left lit in a bedroom caused the accidental fire.

There was extensive damage to the bedroom area and attic.

The Streetsboro Fire Department was helped by the Streetsboro Police Department, the water department and fire crews from Aurora, Kent, Twinsburg, Mantua-Shalersville and Reminderville.
