More I-69, I-94 ramp closings begin Saturday

More problems for area drivers who use I-69 to get on I-94 begin Saturday. Drivers will need to find a new route until Friday, Sept. 16.

Work continues that will close work ramps connecting the two. Michigan Department of Transportation said construction would continue on the I-94 and I-69 interchange by rebuilding the eastbound I-94 ramp to southbound I-69 and the southbound I-69 ramp to westbound I-94.

Both the eastbound I-94 ramp to southbound I-69 and the southbound I-69 ramp to westbound I-94 will be closed and detoured for this work. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes.

Construction is part of the ongoing $210 million investment to rebuild I-69 between Island Highway in Charlotte (Eaton County) and I-94 in Marshall (Calhoun County).

"Funding for this project is made possible by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's Rebuilding Michigan program to rebuild the state highways and bridges that are critical to the state's economy and carry the most traffic," MDOT officials said.

Improvements will provide increased safety and mobility in this area of I-69, a significant local and national trade corridor, MDOT said.

Another road project: North Willowbrook Road will be closed next week for work
