More than 80,000 per month: US plans to increase production of 155 mm rounds

The United States intends to increase the production of 155 mm rounds to 80,000 per month due to the need for them since the beginning of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine.

Source: Brigadier General Patrick Ryder, Pentagon press secretary, at a press briefing in the Pentagon, quoted by Ukrinform

Quote: "We provided to date over two million 155 mm ammo rounds to Ukraine since the start of the fight [in 2022 – ed.].

We've also enabled a rapid increase in 155 ammo production.  So from 14,000 a month in February of '22 to approximately 24,000 a month currently, and we plan to be at over 80,000 a month over the following year."

Details: Ryder stressed that these munitions are getting used quickly, and their reserves are not unlimited.

However, he added that the United States, in addition to production, also interacts with allies and partners.

He pointed out again that while the United States and other countries are ramping up production of ammunition, Ukraine continues to receive supplies of cluster munitions.

At the same time, Ryder stated that cluster munitions are being used for military purposes: "We have all indications that they're [the Ukrainian military – ed.] employing those weapons properly on the battlefield, as – as they indicated they would."
