More NJ musicians added to Bamboozle; Lakewood's Oso Chopp films video in Times Square

Two rising stars of Jersey music are headed to the 20th anniversary Bamboozle Festival, set for Friday, May 5, to Sunday, May 7, at Bader Field in Atlantic City.

“Blick Blick” trendsetter Coi Leray from Hackensack, and Louyah from Keansburg, whose viral hits include “You” and “I Used to Car,” were recently announced as participants of the fest.

“This has been such a journey for me and I can't thank y’all enough for getting me where I am,” said Louyah on his social media.

Destroy Lonely, Ken Carson, Mod Sun, Turnover, Brakence, The Acacia Strain, Murda Beatz, Charly Jordan, and Fiddlehead were also added.

Limp Bizkit, Trippie Redd, Papa Roach, Bad Omens, Yung Gravy, A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, Motionless In White, Rick Ross, Joey Bada$$, Blackbear, Mayday Parade, Driver Era, Steve Aoki, Saves the Day, The Wrecks, E-Town Concrete, plus reunion sets from Say Anything, Finch, and Flyleaf were previously announced.

“This party is 20 years in the making,” said festival founder John D’Esposito in a statement. “We’re psyched to bring Bamboozle back to its loyal fans, and introduce a new generation to the Jersey festival that put many artists on the map.”

The fest was previously staged in Asbury Park and the Meadowlands in East Rutherford, and featured emo, hip-hop, rock and pop A-listers like Drake, Bon Jovi, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, My Chemical Romance, Jonas Brothers, Bruno Mars, Demi Lovato and more during a 10-year run.

'Recipe' for success

Frank Sinatra said if you can make it in New York City, you can make it anywhere.

Oso Chopp, the rising Lakewood hip-hop emcee, is on that vibe. He shot the video for his latest single, “Recipe,” last October in Times Square.

“It was fun,” said Chopp of the shoot. “It was Halloween and everybody was out there. When we got out there the crowd immediately took to me and started watching. I have the image and the way I delivered my flow and my message — they could feel it.”

The track, produced and engineered by Boogie J, Block , Poochie Beats and Prime on the Beat, sizzles with energy and the sweeping synthy keys add heft to the sound. The beat nicely frames Chopp's A-plus rapid-fire vocal delivery, full of dexterity and texture. Guest rhymes from Rcyn Stacks and Strap1700 are delivered with verve and purpose.

The video was directed by John Noel Jr. of P.A.U. Studios in Plainfield. Comedian Mr. 145th provides a comic intro. So far, nearly 10,000 have watched it on YouTube. If you do, mind the language.

“I had the vision,” said Chopp, aka Sage Basnight. “I said let's go to Times Square.”

No mumbling here, folks,

“I got the recipe,” rhymes Chopp in “Recipe.” “Write my story and give me some time to breathe.”

Bad Bunny birthday party

Bad Bunny turns 29 on Friday, March 10.

So what are you going to do? Hop on over to the Bad Bunny Birthday Bash Friday at the House of Independents in Asbury Park.

“I started the party on a whim,” said DJ Honey Cafe of Brooklyn. “It was OK, give the people what they want. Everybody wants to hear Bad Bunny.”

That includes Asbury Park. Friday's show is the third time Honey Cafe, aka Cali Gonzalez, has brought the party to House of Independents.

Bad Bunny, aka Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio of Puerto Rico, is a trailblazer. His 2020 Latin trap and reggaeton album, “El Último Tour Del Mundo,” was the first Spanish language LP to top the Billboard 200.

He's not slowing down, and neither is Honey Cafe,

“The party has spiraled out of control,” Honey Cafe said. “It's become really popular and we're selling out over and over and over again. “
