More restaurant closings announced in Tuckahoe and Ossining

On the positive side, there are more new openings coming; come back to lohud.com for details.

Still, losing Good Choice Kitchen in Ossining and The Quarry in Tuckahoe, brought a flood of comments from patrons on their individual Facebook pages, lamenting the loss.

Heather Crelling-Bouza commented on the Facebook page of Good Choice: "A loss for all of us who not only loved your food and spirit, but the conversations." Dee Davis similarly thanked the owner for teaching her so much about healthy eating. "You're awesome, Laurie; I wish you the best!" she posted.

Meanwhile, on The Quarry's page, Lisa Nango-Cutrupi wrote how sad she was to see the restaurant's demise. "My sons and I have many great memories that include The Quarry," she said. Added Joan Quinn, "It's depressing. We've had many family and friends group occasions there. Always dependable."

Good Choice Kitchen, Ossining

The last day of operation for this health-oriented cafe, known for its plant based dishes using local, organic, fair trade ingredients, was June 25th. Owner Laurie Gershgorn told The Journal News/lohud.com in 2017 that she saw her place as a spot "for people to eat, learn, and obtain meals that generally do not have as many eating options elsewhere."

The former private chef and graduate of the Natural Gourmet Institute in Manhattan wrote on the restaurant's Facebook page how grateful she was for those who walked through her doors to "eat, drink, learn, share" during her five-plus years in Ossining. 147 Main St.

After 18 years, The Quarry closed June 28. Owner Maureen Cesarini sold the restaurant, telling lohud it had become very hard to operate with the cost of everything rising, from rent to food costs. Her posting on Facebook thanked the community and noted how difficult it was to say goodbye. "We are extremely humbled that you have embraced our restaurant," read the post. "This community has impacted us all in a personal way ... We consider you family; each and every one of you will hold a special place in our hearts." 106 Main St.
