More Russian troops than locals on Kherson’s streets, governor says

"I had to admit some people have left the city since the Russians announced so-called "evacuation” from temporarily occupied Kherson city and the region. Under the guise of the evacuation, many Russian soldiers changed into civilian clothes and also fled Kherson," she admitted while broadcasting on TV.

Luhova also said the Russians are taking away everything they've looted.

"Russian soldiers left Kherson together with their families. They also carried away with them everything they had looted. Still, a significant number of the Russian forces are in the city. People from the occupied territories I've talked with said there are more Russian soldiers on the streets of Kherson, than its residents," she added.

Early, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said that the Ukrainian offensive in the Kherson Oblast was slowing because of rainy weather. He also said all the bridges in the region were under the fire control of Ukrainian forces, so there is no way to escape for the invaders.

Russia is sending mobilized soldiers to the region, and preparing defenses in the streets of the Kherson city, Chief of Ukraine’s Main Defense Intelligence Department Kyrylo Budanov has said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said rumors that the Russian invaders had fled from the city of Kherson were “an information attack.”
