More snow coming to Asheville? Weather service says yes
Asheville could see another snowfall heading into the weekend, with about an inch predicted for Jan. 21, according to National Weather Service meteorologists.
"There is certainly a possibility of additional snow on Friday," said NWS Meteorologist Doug Outlaw on the afternoon of Jan. 18.
There is an about 40-50% chance of snow, he said.
The forecast begins with rain on Jan. 20, which could become snow as a cold front crosses the region, continuing into the day on Jan. 21, with a high of 31 degrees and a low of 19 degrees, said Outlaw.

The majority of the snowfall is forecast for the evening of Jan. 21 when Outlaw said to expect about half an inch.
Outlaw called it a "moderate snow," but nothing like the storm system over the weekend, and lighter wind.
After the precipitation, he said the high temperature on Jan. 22 would be about 36 degrees, with lows in the teens.
Which WNC areas got the most snow? Asheville had 10.4 inches in weekend snowfall.
"It's going to be cold next week, so we're not going to get a break from the cold anytime soon," Outlaw said. "Winter has pretty much set in, and we’re just having cold temperatures, consistently, week after week, until we get a break.”
