More streets to be paved by year's end in South Bend. Here's a list of them.

SOUTH BEND — South Bend’s Department of Public Works has announced a second phase of street paving for 2023.

The first phase of street paving was announced in May and included more than 80 streets.

In the second phase, more than 30 streets will be addressed with milling and asphalt resurfacing, microsurfacing, and full reconstruction or brick spot repair.

Work is underway on brick spot repair and microsurfacing. Paving and full reconstruction projects begin in the coming weeks. All projects will be completed this year.

The second phase of paving includes the following streets:

• Albert Avenue from Washington Street to Linden Avenue

• Camden Street from Ford to Sample streets

• Clearview Place from Floral to Sunnyfield places

• Crescent Avenue from Hill Street to St. Louis Boulevard

• Devon Circle from Devon Circle to Esther Street

• Donmoyer Avenue from Michigan to Main streets

• Dorwood Drive from Oak Ridge Drive to dead end

• Florence Street from Wilber to Johnson streets

• Garden Place from Albert Avenue to dead end

• Hildreth Street from Emerson Avenue to Clover Street

• Hillcrest Road from Wakewa Avenue to Angela Boulevard

• Hilltop Drive from Southeast to Southridge drives

• Howard Street from Niles to Notre Dame avenues

• Illinois Street from Western to Linden avenues

• Iowa Street from Western Avenue to Washington Street

• Kenmore Street from Washington Street to Linden Avenue

• Kenmore Street from Western Avenue to Jefferson Boulevard

• Lagoon Court from Hollywood Place to cul-de-sac

• Marine Street from Dubail Avenue to Calvert Street

• Michigan Street from Ireland Road to Chippewa Avenue

• Miner Street from Eddy to Arthur streets

• Oakdale Drive from Brookton Drive to York Road

• Sample Street from Mayflower Road to Sheridan Street

• Scenic Drive from Ford Street to Garden Lane

• Wayne Street from Twyckenham Drive to Greenlawn Avenue

• Washington Street from Mayflower Road to Summit Drive

• Winthrop Drive from Byron to Catherwood drives

Brick spot repair is also planned for the following streets:

• Cushing Street from Oak Street to LaSalle Avenue

• Forest Avenue from Riverside Drive to LaMonte Terrace

• Oak Street from Cushing Street to Cottage Grove Avenue

• Scott Street from Colfax to LaSalle avenues

Upon completion of this second phase, the city will have finished paving the list of streets identified in the Rebuilding Our Streets Plan, which was announced in April 2021.

A new assessment of all streets in South Bend was recently completed. The city is using data from the assessment to determine next year’s paving list, which will be published by the end of the year.
