More victims found. Turlock band teacher arrested third time for alleged sex crimes

A Turlock band teacher has been arrested a third time on suspicion of sex crimes with former students, including making child pornography.

According to Turlock Police, 38-year-old Daniel James Baudino turned himself in on Thursday after Hi-Tech Detectives found child pornography on digital evidence seized as part of their investigations.

Investigators allege Baudino covertly recorded sexual acts without the knowledge of the other party.

Baudino, who is on leave from his positions at Turlock Junior High School and Dennis Earl Elementary School, was first arrested Nov. 1 after a former student accused him of sex crimes that allegedly occurred over a period of months in 2016.

As the investigation continued, additional evidence was discovered and two more victims came forward, police said. Baudino was re-arrested on Nov. 18.

He bailed out after both arrests and now his bail has quadrupled. He remained in jail Friday with a bail of $680,000 on suspicion of one count of possession of child pornography, four counts of contacting a minor for the purposes of sex, five counts of recording sexual activity without consent and 11 counts of using a minor to make child pornography.

Turlock Police spokesperson Deandra Wiley said there are five victims and all but one of them is a former student. She said one of the victims was a minor when the alleged crimes occurred.

The crimes involving all the victims are alleged to have occurred between 2015 to August 2019.

The Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office has not yet amended the complaint against Baudino to reflect the latest accusations. The complaint filed in November lists 14 charges and three victims. The charges include oral copulation by force, sexual penetration by force, communicating with a minor for the purpose of a sex offense and oral copulation with a person under the age of 18.
