S’mores, snow snakes and stouts: What to do in West Michigan this weekend

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — No matter where you are in West Michigan this weekend, there’s bound to be an exciting event happening.

Here’s a look at what you can do the weekend of Feb. 23:

Winter Beer Festival

Some of the top brewers in the state will be heading to LMCU Ballpark this Saturday for the annual Winter Beer Festival.

There will be hundreds of local beers, live music, food and ice sculptures for you to enjoy. The event will run from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

On Saturday, join the Parkinson’s Revolution for a cycling event taking place across the country.

Spoke Cycle/Strength in Grand Rapids will be hosting the local version of the indoor ride that will raise money for Parkinson’s research.

Families in Muskegon are welcome to Reeths-Puffer High School this Saturday for the annual Snow Much Fun event.

World of Winter is still going strong heading into this weekend with two fun competitions.

On Saturday, get your team together and participate in the annual Snow Snake competition. Then on Sunday, head on down to Rosa Parks Circle for the Human Hungry, Hungry Hippos tournament.

Unity Walk and African American Live Museum

Woodland Mall will host a few Black History Month events on Saturday.

Starting at 11 a.m., join the group and take a Unity Walk that will be followed by a ceremony in front of Von Maur. After that, there will be an African American Live Museum featuring 25 live performers portraying historical Black figures.

KCA Lantern Festival

Join the Kalamazoo Chinese Academy this Sunday for the Lantern Festival Celebration.

Starting at 2 p.m. at the Portage Zhang Senior Center, celebrate the end of the Lunar New Year with food, games, performances and more.

Jake Engel Memorial Dog Game with the Griffins

This Sunday at Van Andel Arena will be the annual Jake Engel Memorial Dog Game with the Grand Rapids Griffins.

At this game, you can actually bring your dog to the stadium and watch the Griffins take on the Milwaukee Admirals. Proceeds from tickets will go to the BISSELL Pet Foundation.
