Morgan County Election Board sets early voting times, dates, locations for May primary

Members of the Morgan County Election Board approved voting locations for the early voting period for the 2023 election Thursday morning.

Due to scheduling problems, the board had to meet using proxies for both its Republican and Democratic  members.

The 2023 election involves the offices of mayor, clerk/treasurer, judge, and seven council members in Martinsville.

In Mooresville the clerk/treasurer, a judge, and wards 2, 3, and 4 are up for election.

Early voting will be held in Mooresville at the First Christian Church, 525 N. Indiana St., and in Martinsville at the county administration building, 180 S. Main St.

Hours for early voting in Mooresville are Saturday, April 22, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, April 24, until Friday, April 28, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 29, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Monday, May 1, from 8 a.m. until noon.

Early voting in Martinsville will be Tuesday, April 4, until Thursday, April 6, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The election office and all county offices will be closed on April 7 for Good Friday.

Early voting resumes on Monday, April 10, until Friday, April 14, and Monday, April 24, to Friday, April 28, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Early voting will be held on two Saturdays, April 22 and April 29, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The last day of early voting will be Monday, May 1, from 8 a.m. until noon.

Due to the county having voting centers, residents from Martinsville may vote at the Mooresville location and Mooresville residents may vote at the Martinsville location.

Both locations will be open on Election Day, May 2, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The board approved the election equipment inventory list which will be sent to the state.

After the meeting concluded, new board member Virginia Perry arrived. Perry replaced former board member Dakota VanLeeuwen who has been appointed to fill the Morgan County Superior Court I judicial position vacated by former judge Pete Foley. Foley has been appointed to a state court.

Morgan County Clerk Tammy Parker swore Perry in after the meeting.
