May 4—The tornado watch for Morgan County was lifted by the National Weather Service at 12:16 p.m. today.

The watch had been scheduled to run through 4 p.m.

"We are ending the Tornado Watch for our counties of Cullman, Morgan, Marshall, DeKalb," the weather service's Huntsville office said in a tweet. "This clears our area of all watches & warnings for now. While the immediate threat is over, we could still have severe weather with additional storms later this afternoon."

A tornado watch alerts the public to the possibility of a tornado in the next several hours.
