Morgan & Morgan law firm billboards defaced: Or were they?

Seemingly vandalized billboards for the Morgan & Morgan law firm have been spotted in the Tampa Bay area, and across the country, but it’s not the first time. The head of the mega firm has admitted in the past to defacing his own billboards as a creative marketing campaign.

One billboard on Interstate 275 in St. Petersburg crossed out “For” and changed it to “CHASE The People” with an ambulance drawn on the side, and there is similar “vandalism” on ones on McMullen Booth Road in Clearwater and on North Dale Mabry in Tampa.

John Morgan himself responded on Tuesday to a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, with “We now know who did it! We have pictures of @RonDeSantis on a ladder with a paint brush.”

Other posts on social media said “defaced” billboards have been spotted in Atlanta and Virginia.

In 2015, Morgan, who leads the country’s largest personal injury law firm, told the Tampa Bay Times that he came up with the idea of defacing his own billboards as an attention-getter.

“The first one went up in Orlando and it was themed around the Orlando City Soccer Lions team,” he said then. “People were backing up traffic because they were stopping to take pictures of it. TV news stations came out and did stories about it. People were posting on social media about it. We thought it was great. It was the best money I’ve ever spent.”

Calls and emails to the law firm were not returned.
