Country hitmaker Morgan Wallen postponed six weeks of his "One Night At A Time" world tour Tuesday due to an ongoing vocal injury, the singer said via social media.

Wallen told his followers in a video post that doctors at Vanderbilt Voice Center urged him to take the extended leave due to vocal fold trauma. Late last month, Wallen canceled a performance at University of Mississippi Rebels' Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi, minutes before he was due to hit the stage, citing issues with his voice. He returned to touring last weekend in Florida but "felt terrible" after three nights, he said.

"They told me if I do this the right way, I’ll get back to 100%," Wallen said in a video posted to Twitter. "They also said if I don’t listen and I keep singing, I’ll permanently damage my voice."

He added, "I hate it, but I love you guys."

As part of his vocal rest, Wallen said he'll no longer appear this week at the ACM Awards in Frisco, Texas. Dates impacted by the diagnosis include Pittsburg, Atlanta and Austin, Texas, among others. In the next month, he was also scheduled to appear at Gulf Coast Jam in Florida and Carolina Country Music Fest in South Carolina.

Wallen hopes to resume touring June 22 with two shows at Wrigley Field in Chicago. Original ticket purchases transfer to respective rescheduled dates. Those unable to make a rescheduled show can seek a refund at point-of-purchase within 30 days of the new date being announced, according to a statement from Wallen's team.

"We're working on rescheduling all the dates during this time frame," Wallen said in a video. "We've almost got that done but some of them are pending, so I'll keep you updated."
