Morgan's Message provides student-athletes mental health support

An elite college lacrosse player, Morgan Rodgers, died by suicide in 2019. No one knew she was suffering in silence. Morgan's story is tragic and painful, but sadly, not unique. This year, at least four college athletes across the country died by suicide. Now, there is an effort afoot to have mental health addressed on the same priority level as physical health. That effort is being led by a Virginia mother who is fighting to save lives, campus by campus, athlete by athlete. For Dona Rodgers, when she lost her 22-year-old daughter to suicide, she knew she had two choices: To crawl under a rock or lift that rock up to see what was crawling underneath. She chose to lift.
