Morley, Willoughby-Eastlake among libraries celebrating Library Card Sign-Up Month
Sep. 1—September is Library Card Sign-Up Month and Morley Library in Painesville and Willoughby-Eastlake Public Library are among those in the area that have plans to celebrate.
Morley Library, located at 184 Phelps St., will be hosting the following activities all month long:
—Kids are invited to stop by the Children's Department in to show their library card and enter a raffle for a chance to win a Squishmallow, according to a news release.
—New library card holders of all ages can enter the raffle for a chance to win a $25 Amazon gift card. Sign up at the checkout desk. Youth 17 and under must be accompanied by a parent/guardian to enter.
—During September, library cardholders of all ages can sign up at the third-floor desk for special behind-the-scenes tours of the library, as available. Youths 17 and under must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
To sign up for a Morley Library card, those 18 and over must present a valid photo ID and proof of current address.
Children under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian accompany them and provide ID in order to obtain a library card. Children under 18 are also eligible for a 3 for Me Card.
Morley Library also offers a 60+ Senior card, Veteran's Card, Educator Card, and a digital e-card.
"Library cards are free and provide access to print and digital resources and media through your local public library, giving students of all ages the tools to succeed," the library stated in the release. "With your Morley Library card, you can also borrow or download books, movies, music, framed art, wifi hotspots, and more, for recreation and enjoyment."

The Willoughby-Eastlake Public Library also is joining the American Library Association and libraries nationwide to remind people about the valuable resources available with a library card.
From borrowing books, ebooks, and audiobooks to getting homework help, learning new skills, or attending a book club or story time, a library card helps people do more of what they enjoy. All without stretching their budget, according to a news release.
The W-E library offers on-line learning, databases, passport and notary services, faxing and printing, computer and internet services and more.
"There's something for everyone at Willoughby-Eastlake Public Library and signing up for a library card is the first step on the path to academic achievement and lifelong learning for students," the library stated in the release "It's elemental, really—everyone should have one."
