Cowgirls clinch series against Texas Tech with 9-1 on Saturday

A five-run fifth inning propelled Oklahoma State to a 9-1 run-rule victory in five innings over Texas Tech at Cowgirl Stadium on Saturday.

The Cowgirls (23-6) expanded their win streak to six games. Chyenne Factor, Miranda Elish, Sydney Pennington and Katelynn Carwile all homered. Elish recorded the win in the circle, improving to 7-4.

In Friday night's opener, Kelly Maxwell (10-0) tossed a no-hitter in a 7-0 victory for OSU.

She fanned 16 batters through seven innings, marking the eighth game this season she’s recorded double digit strikeouts.

OU 9, BAYLOR 1: Oklahoma's top-ranked softball team opened conference play on Friday by beating Baylor, 9-1, in five innings in Norman. The Sooners got home runs from Jocelyn Alo and Lynnsie Elam in the second inning and a grand slam from Tiare Jennings in the third. Freshman Jordy Bahl (11-0) went the distance in the circle, surrendering just one run on two hits and striking out eight.

OU hits two grand slams to rally past Baylor

Oklahoma hit grand slams in both the eighth and ninth innings Saturday as the Sooners rallied to defeat Baylor, 9-5, at L. Dale Mitchell Park to clinch the Big 12 series against the Bears.

The Sooners (14-7, 2-0 Big 12) downed Baylor, 5-3, in the series opener Friday night.

OU trailed 5-1 with two outs in the eighth inning when Tanner Tredaway tied it on a grand slam. The Sooners then won it in the ninth on a walk-off grand slam by Peyton Graham.

On Friday night, Trent Brown and Max McGwire homered to lead the Sooners. OU ace Jake Bennett (2-0) struck out seven and allowed just one walk, six hits and three runs over 7.1 innings.

OSU 4, KANSAS 2: Justin Campbell and Chase Adkison propelled No. 4 Oklahoma State to a win over Kansas in its Big 12 Conference opener Friday night at O’Brate Stadium. Campbell tossed a complete game and fanned nine, allowing just three hits. Adkison hit a three-run homer and Nolan McLean drove in OSU’s other run with a double. It was OSU's (16-6) ninth straight win.

Friday's NCAA men's basketball tournament games

MIAMI 70, IOWA STATE 56: Oklahoma transfer Kameron McGusty scored 27 points and Miami advanced to the Elite Eight for the first time. Jordan Miller added 16 points on 6-of-6 shooting. The 11th-seeded Cyclones shot 32% from the field in the second half and finished with 18 turnovers.

ST. PETER'S 67, PURDUE 64: Daryl Banks III scored the tying and go-ahead baskets as the Peacocks beat third-seeded Purdue. The Peacocks (22-11) became the first 15 seed to reach the Elite Eight, adding the Boilermakers to their NCAA Tournament string of upsets.

KANSAS 66, PROVIDENCE 61: Kansas led by 13 in the second half before Providence cut the lead to one, but the Jayhawks held on to advance to a regional final for the first time since 2018. Remy Martin scored a season-high 23 points.

NORTH CAROLINA 73, UCLA 66: Caleb Love made the game-tying and go-ahead 3-pointers 37 seconds apart. Love scored 27 of his career-high 30 points in the second half, including a go-ahead 3 came with 1:03 left. Oklahoma transfer Brady Manek had 13 points for the Tar Heels.

Friday's NCAA women's basketball tournament games

CREIGHTON 76, IOWA STATE 68: Morgan Maly scored a career-high 21 points to help 10th-seeded Creighton beat Iowa State, becoming one of the lowest seeds to ever reach a women’s NCAA Tournament regional final. Tatum Rembao added 19 for the Bluejays (23-9).

TEXAS 66, OHIO STATE 63: Joanne Allen-Taylor scored 17 points and Aliyah Matharu added 10 points for Texas (29-6), which will make its second straight appearance in the Elite Eight. The second-seeded Longhorns have won 14 straight games.

STANFORD 72, MARYLAND 66: Lexie Hull scored 19 points, Haley Jones added 17 points and 10 rebounds, and the defending national champion Cardinal (31-3) dominated the Terrapins for the first three quarters. Maryland trimmed the deficit to 68-59 with 1:41 left, but couldn't get much closer.

SOUTH CAROLINA 69, NORTH CAROLINA 61: Aliyah Boston had 28 points and 22 rebounds for top-seeded South Carolina (32-2). The Tar Heels cut South Carolina’s 13-point fourth-quarter lead to five down the stretch, but Boston scored her team’s final 13 points.

TRACK & FIELD: Oklahoma State's 4x400 relay squad broke a 39-year program record with a time of 3:05.51 at the Texas Relays. EJ Berry, Koryee Wyatt, Charlie Bartholomew and DJ McArthur placed second overall.

EQUESTRIAN: For the eighth time in program history, Oklahoma State won the Big 12 championship as the top-seeded Cowgirls defeated fourth-seeded TCU, 11-9, for the title Saturday at Diamond Creek Ranch.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Trevor Hudgins hit five 3-pointers and finished with 31 points to help fifth-seeded Northwest Missouri State beat Augusta, 67-58, on Saturday. The Bearcats (34-5) became the first program in history to win three consecutive Division II national championships.
