This Morning's Phillip Schofield receives Ofcom complaints following Donald Trump comments
This Morning's Phillip Schofield has found himself the subject of viewer complaints to broadcasting watchdog Ofcom, after the presenter made a passing comment about Donald Trump on air.
Last week, Schofield surprised viewers during a segment on COVID-19 and potential treatments, after the US president declared to the press that he was taking anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine in a bid to ward off the virus.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) recently suspended its testing of the drug as a possible treatment after a recent medical study suggested it could actually increase the risk of patients dying.

After playing a clip of Trump saying that he takes the medication and he's "still here", Schofe interjected and noted that Trump is "sadly, still here".
Phillip later explained what he meant on Twitter, insisting that he meant "still in OFFICE" not "still alive", as some viewers thought.
Defending his comments, the This Morning host then added: "It is extremely unfortunate that he's still in office and sanctioning treatments that could kill people."

Ofcom has since confirmed that it has received over 50 complaints about the specific episode, telling The Sun: "Of the 51 complaints about This Morning we can confirm that the majority are about Phillip's comments about Donald Trump."
In less controversial This Morning news, the ITV show recently announced a brand new spin-off for Alison Hammond called 'At Home with Hammond'.
Alison's appearances have long been a favourite of viewers, so This Morning bosses have decided to give the former Big Brother star her own mini-series about cooking on the programme's app.
Let's hope they fare better than John Torode's recent kitchen escapades, eh?
