Morris County girls soccer coaches recognize best players, team

Chatham took home top honors as the Morris County girls soccer coaches recognized the best in the game at their annual luncheon on Tuesday.

Cougars senior Paige Droner was named the Player of the Year. Chatham's first-year head coach Anthony Correale was also recognized by his peers.

Chatham defended its Morris County Tournament title. The Cougars also knocked off Scotch Plains in overtime to win the NJSIAA North 2, Group 3 title that had eluded them a year ago.

  • Droner, a senior midfielder and free-kick specialist, had three goals and four assists. Droner has signed a National Letter of Intent with Indiana University. Her older sister, Elizabeth Droner, now a sophomore midfielder at Purdue, had received the same award in 2020. A younger sister, Cougars sophomore midfielder Abby Droner, was selected for the coaches' second team.

  • A former Morris Catholic and Rider University midfielder, Correale came to Chatham after coaching at Parsippany Soccer Club for seven years. He is the second straight Chatham coach to be recognized, following Gary Adair, who resigned after leading the team to its first MCT title.
