Morristown offers $24K awards to homeowners to repair affordable housing: How to apply

MORRISTOWN — The town is partnering with a community housing organization to offer up to $24,000 in repairs for residents in low- and moderate-income homes.

The Community Grants, Planning and Housing (CGP&H) development company is accepting pre-applications from Morristown residents for its Home Improvement Program. The initiative is open to homeowners whose gross annual income falls below the following limits based on household size:

  • 1 occupant - $69,344

  • 2 - $79,251

  • 3 - $89,157

  • 4 - $99,063

  • 5 - $106,988

  • 6 - $114,913

  • 7 - $122,838

  • 8 - $130,763

CGP&H will provide the funds as a no-interest, 10-year forgivable loan. Recipients can use the money for a variety of repairs, from roof and window replacements to fixing heating, electrical and plumbing issues.

A professional inspector will oversee the entire process, and there is no monthly payment. The application is available at no cost and will not affect residents' credit scores.

Homeowners are invited to pre-apply by visiting www.hip.cgph.net or calling 609-366-9010.

CGP&H is hosting a Zoom information session about the program at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 15. Those interested in attending are asked to email mguzman@cgph.net or call 609-366-9010 to request the registration link. Attendance at the session is not required to submit a pre-application.

CGP&H was founded in 1993 and has assisted in the rehabilitation of more than 2,500 homes throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania, according to the company's website.
