Morrisville, New Britain roads could see delays with construction projects

Whether it’s a continuing or new road construction project, traffic may build up on in Bucks County this week during commutes.

PennDOT announced this week there will be four projects in Bucks County, leading to closures and detours across the area.

Will construction on I-295 continue?

Similar to last week, PennDOT is continuing the construction of a rumble strip and delineator installation on Interstate 295 in Bucks County. The project’s budget, which increased to $45.4 million, looks to improve several highways and structures throughout Bucks, Philadelphia and Delaware counties.

  • On Monday and Tuesday, from 7:30 p.m. to 5 a.m., there will be a single lane closure in both directions of I-295 between Route 413 in Bristol Township and Business U.S. 1/Route 413 interchanges in Bristol and Middletown townships.

What is happening to New Galena Road and Barry Road?

In a new utility improve project, the Chalfont-New Britain Township Joint Sewage Authority will restore pavement on New Galena Road and Barry Road in New Britain Township.

  • From 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday to Friday of this week, New Galena Road will be closed between the Barry Road and Walter Road intersections.

  • Drivers should use Barry Road, then transfer to Railroad Avenue, Sunset Avenue, and Route 152.

  • Next week, from Monday to Friday during the same times, Barry Road will be closed from the New Galena Road to the Railroad Avenue intersections. During this time, drivers should use Railroad Avenue, Sunset Avenue, Route 152 (Main Street) and New Galena Road to travel.

Will Route 32/Bridge Street in Morrisville be open?

PennDOT looks to begin construction activities in Morrisville in hopes to improve safety and mobility on Bridge Street on the Delaware Canal Towpath.

  • From Monday to late November, there will temporary lane closures with flagging on Route 32/Bridge Street between the Pennsylvania Avenue and Morris Avenue intersections.

Will construction impact traffic on Rockhill Drive?

In a project to reconstruct and widen U.S. Route 1 in Bucks County, Rockhill Drive will be repaired and reconstructed with an overhead bridge.

  • From 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Monday through Friday, Rockhill Drive will only have one lane open in each direction between the Horizon Boulevard and Neshaminy Boulevard intersections.
