Morton's Ethan Boggs claims Class 2A state boys golf title

Morton's Ethan Boggs won the individual championship at the conclusion of the Class 2A UIL state boys golf tournament on Tuesday.

Boggs kept his spot atop the leaderboard by shooting a 76 on Tuesday to claim the state title with a total score of 151. He finished four shots ahead of Latexo's Cordell Knox, who shot a a 155 to finish second.

Casen Brorman of Vega — which finished second in the team standings after a two-hole playoff — was third with a 158.

New Home finished seventh in the team standings with a 738. The Leopards were led by Owen Morris, who shot a 164. Farwell's Hayden McClaren shot a 163.

Rounding out the New Home contingent were Brady Brown with a 188, Graham Keys with a 192, Reagan Fiedler with a 194 and Kaden Gray with a 220.

CLASS 5A

Hayden Bowman tied for ninth to headline Lubbock-Cooper's run in the Class 5A UIL state boys golf tournament, which wrapped up on Tuesday.

Bowman shot a two-day score of 148, tying with four other golfers. The Pirate senior finished six strokes out of medal position.

LCP placed ninth in the team standings with a collective score of 642. Kyler Ezel shot a 160 for the Pirates, followed by Cash Blount with a 165, Collier Key a 172 and Corbin King a 177.

Austin Anderson swept the team and individual titles. Keaton Vo was the individual champ after shooting a 6-under 133, leading the team to the crown in the process.

CLASS 6A

Frenship finished 12th in the team standings to wrap up play in the Class 6A UIL state boys golf tournament.

This marked the first trip to state for the Tigers since 2014, the first for the school at the 6A classification.

Austin Westlake won the team title by finishing 23 strokes ahead of second-place finisher The Woodlands. Matt Comegys of Plano West was the individual champion, shooting a two-day score of 136.

Hunter Welch and Leyton Hiebert each tied for 43 after shooting identical 155s to lead the Frenship contingent. Rex Newsom finished the tournament with a 157, Brayden Katilus 160 and Jathan Reed 163.

CLASS 1A

Meadow came in ninth place in the team standings in the Class 1A UIL state boys golf tournament.

Dylon Fabila lead the Meadow contingent by shooting a two-day score of 184. Taylor Caswell shot a 188, Niko Castaneda a 194, Bryden Smith a 195 and Logan Castaneda a 222.

TAPPS

Trinity Christian golfers Kieran Elliott and Maryona Lusk each finished sixth in the TAPPS Class 4A golf tournament, which concluded on Tuesday.

Elliott led the individual field after the first day but shot an 82 on Tuesday to finish sixth. He finished the tournament with a 153, two shots out of medalist position. Hagan Bartholomew of Lubbock Christian shot a 167.

Lusk slipped one spot in the standings but improved by three strokes on Tuesday, finishing the tournament with a 183.
