Moscow Mayor reports drone attack, airport operations halt

Most airport operations in Moscow have been suspended due to an attempted drone attack, according to the city’s Mayor Sergei Sobyanin on Dec. 19.

Russian Telegram channels reported that operations at Domodedovo, Vnukovo, and Zhukovsky airports were affected, with flights redirected to Sheremetyevo.

Vnukovo reported that due to “reasons beyond its control,” temporary restrictions on the arrival and departure of aircraft were imposed at 11:54 a.m.

Later, Sobyanin reported that a drone was allegedly downed in the Odintsovo municipal district of Moscow Oblast by the air defense system.
