The most fun day of the year to visit Wichita’s Saigon restaurant arrives next week

Any day of the week is a good day of the week to dine at Saigon, the popular Vietnamese restaurant at 1103 N. Broadway.

But one of the most fun days of the year to visit is the first day of the Lunar New Year, when the restaurant always puts on a big party that includes dragon dancers and “lucky money” giveaways.

Saigon will be celebrating the arrival of the Year of the Tiger on Tuesday, and it will be an all-day event. The dragon dancers will perform at 12:30 p.m., and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., the owners will be passing out red envelopes, known as Li Xi or “lucky money,” to customers. The envelopes include various prizes including cash and lottery tickets.

Saigon doesn’t take reservations, and it’s always crowded on Lunar New Year, so be sure to arrive early.

Saigon is not the only Asian restaurant that will have lion dancers next week, though. Here are some other places you can catch a performances by the local St. Anthony Lion & Dragon Dance Team, which always performs all over Wichita around the start of Lunar New Year.

The St. Anthony Lion & Dragon Dance Team will be all over Wichita during the Lunar New Year.
