Most of Montgomery Whitewater will be free and open to the public

Planning a casual visit to Montgomery Whitewater when it opens this summer? If you're more interested in watching the water than getting in it, this place is a real bargain. Meaning it's mostly free.

The massive grounds near the Alabama River are located at the I-65 and I-85 interchange in Montgomery, next door to Maxwell Air Force Base at 1100 Maxwell Boulevard.

Here's a look at the non-wet fun, and some rules everyone has to abide by:

Is there a fee to park?

No, not for a regular day's experience. However, special events may require a parking fee. Parking is available from the western Whitewater Parkway entrance. Follow the designated areas off Base Camp Boulevard. There's no overnight parking or damping permitted.

What else can you do for free?

It's open to the public from sunup to sundown. Guests are invited to run, ride bikes, or walk around the whitewater channel. While you have to pay to access on-site activities, and pay for food and drinks you get, that's it. There's no entry fee just to come out and relax.
