Most of the northern ⅔ of Wisconsin is expected to get three to six inches of wet snow Sunday into Monday

Most of the northern ⅔ of Wisconsin is expected to get hit by three to six inches of wet snow, starting Sunday night and continuing into Monday morning, according to Richard Mamrosh, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Green Bay.

Here's what to know, from when and where the snow will start to how much is forecasted to fall.

When is the snow expected to arrive and where?

The snow will arrive from southwest to northeast, and will start around Wisconsin Rapids, Marshfield and Medford around 8 p.m. Sunday, Mamrosh said.

It'll reach the Appleton, Oshkosh and Green Bay areas in the middle-to-late evening hours.

Door County is expected to begin seeing snow shortly after midnight.

How long will it snow?

The snow will continue overnight, and could be "moderate" or "heavy" at times, Mamrosh said.

When will the snow end?

The snow will "diminish" Monday morning, Mamrosh said. But during the day, there could be periods of a rain-snow mix with "not much accumulation."

Northeastern Wisconsin could get one-to-two more inches of light snow Monday evening, according to Mamrosh.

How much snow is expected?

Most of the northern ⅔ of the state is expected to see between three and six inches of snow, Mamrosh said.

There could be more in the area from Wausau to Shawno and up toward Crivitz and Iron Mountain, he said.

Across far north-central Wisconsin, around Eagle River and Minocqua, is expected to get 3 or 4 inches of snow.

West Bend over toward the Wisconsin Dells could get between 1 and 3 inches.

Will the morning commute be impacted?

"Oh yeah," Mamrosh said. "Given that it'll be snowing pretty hard from midnight until, let's say, 4, 5, 6 o'clock in the morning, I would think it would be difficult for the plows to get it all cleared out before most people leave for work or school."

Mamrosh said he wouldn't be surprised if there would end up being some school delays or cancelations in some places.

When could the next snow come?

There's a "reasonable" chance for "a pretty good" snowstorm from Friday into Saturday across the state, Mamrosh said.
