Here are the most popular baby names in 2021 for Topeka-born babies

Tammy Poynter and Ricky Reighard had a lot of company last year when they named their baby son "Jaxon."

That was the city's most popular baby name for boys in 2021, according to records kept by Stormont Vail Health and the University of Kansas Medical Center's St. Francis campus.

Listings identifying last year's most popular baby names were shared with The Capital-Journal by spokeswomen Nancy Burkhardt at St. Francis and MollyPatt Horan at Stormont Vail.

The newspaper tallied those totals to determine Topeka's top baby names for 2021.

It learned that "Ava" was the city's most popular baby name for girls, being given to 18 infants.

The most popular name for boys was "Jaxon," including its alternative spelling of "Jackson.

Fifteen boys received that name. Those included Jaxon Cole Reighard, born Oct. 19 at St. Francis.

His mother, Poynter, said his first name was taken from that of "Jax Teller," a favorite character of Poynter's on the TV series "Sons of Anarchy," which formerly aired on FX.

The boy received his middle name of "Cole" after actor and social media star Cole LaBrant, who appears in YouTube videos with his wife, Savannah LaBrant, Poynter said.

"They're so spiritual and young, and kind and giving, and just all-around great people," she said.

Here are the top boy's names from 2021 in Topeka

Of last year's 15 baby boys born in Topeka named "Jackson" or "Jaxon," eight were born at Stormont Vail. Seven were born at St. Francis, where that was the most popular name for baby boys.

Topeka's other most popular baby names for boys were as follows:

• "Noah," or its alternative spelling of "Noa," with 14. Those included 10 at Stormont Vail and four at St. Francis.

• "James," with 13, including 12 at Stormont Vail and one at St. Francis. "James" was the most popular name for baby boys at Stormont Vail.

• "Grayson," with 11, including 10 at Stormont Vail and one at St. Francis.

• "William," with 10, including eight at Stormont Vail and two at St. Francis.

• And "Miles" or its alternative spellings of "Myles" and "Mylez," with 10. That included eight at Stormont Vail and two at St. Francis.

Here are the top girl's names in Topeka in 2021

Of the 18 baby girls named "Ava" born last year in Topeka, seven were delivered at St. Francis and 11 at Stormont Vail.

"Ava" was the most popular name among girls born at Stormont Vail.

Topeka's other top baby names for girls were as follows:

• "Olivia," with 15, including seven born at Stormont Vail and eight at St. Francis. "Olivia" was last year's most popular girl's name at St. Francis.

• "Charlotte," with 13, including eight at Stormont Vail and five at St. Francis.

• "Addison" or its alternative spelling of "Addisyn," with 11, including seven at Stormont Vail and four at St. Francis.

• "Rylee" or its alternative spellings of "Rylie," "Riley" and "Ryleigh," with 11, including five at Stormont Vail and six at St. Francis.

• And "Sophia" or its alternative spellings of "Sofia" and "Sophie," with 11. Those included five at Stormont Vail and six at St. Francis.
