This is the most popular fast food in Georgia. I finally tried it for the first time

Big Mac with a large fry, nuggets and a Frosty or a footlong.

Greasy, delicious and cheap.

Fast food meals are a favorite among travelers, parents with no dinner options or those who are pulling late hours.

According to a study by ScrapeHero, Georgia’s travelers, parents and late night workforce have a few favorite fast food joints. The top 10 most popular fast food options include places such as Subway, McDonald’s, Burger King, Dunkin’ Donuts and even Waffle House.

But who made the top spot on the list?

Hunt Brothers Pizza.

The study ranked the most popular fast food places based on the number of locations each one has in the state of Georgia.

Hunt Brothers Pizza has 830 locations in 382 cities in the Peach State. ScrapeHero found that there’s a Hunt Brothers Pizza for every 12,792 people in Georgia and about 9% of the total number of Hunt Brothers Pizza retailers are in Georgia.

There are 19 Hunt Brothers Pizza locations in Macon, seven in Forsyth and nine in Columbus.

The home of the footlong (Subway) came in second place in the study with 699 locations in the state and McDonald’s was third with 443 locations.

Then there’s Waffle House, Starbucks, Wendy’s, Burger King and Dunkin’ Donuts.

Now, if you’re anything like me, the results of this study shocked me.

I had heard of Hunt Brothers Pizza before (it’s kind of hard to miss its signs at almost every gas station); however, I never tried it.

So, when I heard that it was the most popular fast food here in Middle GA, I just had to see what the fuss was about.

Here’s what I thought

I went to the Marathon on Johnstonville Road and as soon as I pulled up, I saw the signs.

“Hunt Brothers Pizza, grab and go-able” and another letting people know to order on the app for a custom, fast order.

All that to say, Hunt Brothers knows its market. When you’re filling up at the gas station, a quick and easy meal is the way to go.

But is it cheap?

Well, it’s pretty reasonable for gas station pizza. You can get one slice for $3.49 or two for $6.69. A box of five wings is also $4.99.

So, is it any good?

Surprisingly, yes. It was hot, cheesy, fresh and flavorful. The crust was crunchy.

My expectations were for the slice to be soggy, cold and greasy, but it was the opposite and that made me very happy. I can see why it’s the most popular choice for a fast bite to eat.

Now, the wings were a different deal. I took one bite of the baked hot wings and immediately regretted it. The bite was mushy and room temperature. Not the way I like my chicken.

A note on this: I did stop at a gas station before this one and the Hunt Brothers Pizza stand didn’t look fresh (or honestly good at all), so the taste probably does depend on which gas station you’re at and when the location restocks.
