Most searched TV show? Favorite sport? Here are Boise’s top Google searches from 2023
Twenty-five years ago, in a dorm room at Stanford University, Larry Page and Sergey Brin released Google, a search engine that put the world at people’s fingertips.
The pair of computer scientists launched Google simply as an online search firm, and even though the company has now expanded to maps, images, translators, and countless other functions, its original purpose is still alive and well.
Google sees about 8.5 billion daily queries — roughly 99,000 searches per second — and, naturally, many come from Boise.
Here are some of the top searches in Boise from 2023, according to analysis from Google Trends:

The Last of Us
The Golden Bachelor
Daisy Jones and the Six

The Last of Us was released on HBO and the channel’s streaming service, Max, all the way back in January 2023. The show is based on the video game of the same title and focuses on a post-outbreak zombie apocalypse, following the two main characters on their quest to create a vaccine for the zombie virus.
Unsurprisingly, four of the five searches are primarily watched on streaming services. ABC’s The Golden Bachelor is the only one readily available on cable TV — although it can still be watched on Hulu and fuboTV.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Boise didn’t escape the Taylor Swift fever that’s gripped the world, even though the world-renowned superstar didn’t perform in Boise. The recently named Time’s Person of the Year’s closest Eras Tour performance to Boise was in Seattle in July, but that didn’t stop Idahoans from making her tour the highest-searched tour of the year.
Comedians Adam Sandler and Matt Rife both performed in Boise earlier this year, while legendary artists Aerosmith and Beyoncé made up the top five, despite neither of them visiting Boise in recent years.

Dentists near me
Food near me open now
Boise residents either have really good teeth — or really bad teeth — because it was the only place in the United States that had “dentists near me” as a top trending search result.
Fortunately, using Google Maps, Boise isn’t short of available dentists.

Despite Boise’s love for the Boise State Broncos, no Bronco-related queries featured in the top five “versus” searches.
Instead, the top four are all fighting-related, with Dillon Danis’ and Logan Paul’s social media-inspired boxing bout topping the charts over some more traditional names. Jon Jones’ UFC heavyweight title first round victory over Cyril Gane in March also made the list.
The one non-boxing-related search was the 2023 National League Championship Series between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Philadelphia Phillies, which the Diamondbacks won en route to their first World Series victory since 2001.
