Most Stark County schools closed Wednesday due to freezing temperatures

Most kids in Stark County and surrounding areas won't have school Wednesday due to projected freezing temperatures.

All of the following public districts have canceled classes:

Alliance, Brown Local, Canton City, Canton College Preparatory, Canton Local, Carrollton, Fairless, Jackson, Lake, Louisville, Marlington, Massillon, Minerva, North Canton, Northwest, Osnaburg, Perry, Plain, Tuslaw and Sandy Valley.

R.G. Drage career center in Massillon will also be closed as will Canton Harbor High School, Summit Academy Canton, Wright Preparatory Academy, Beacon Academy, Stark High School, Lake Center Christian School, Minerva Area Christian School and Canton Country Day.

Dalton schools in eastern Wayne County and Sebring Local in Mahoning County also are closed.

The districts advised parents to go to the school website for information concerning after-school activities. For Plain Local, any practices, rehearsals or other after-school activities scheduled for Tuesday evening will still proceed as planned.

The National Weather Service has issued a new round of wind chill advisories. The latest warning of potentially dangerous wind chills starts at 10 p.m. Tuesday for northern Ohio and will run through noon Wednesday.

Forecasters say wind chills as low as 15 degrees below zero are possible.

Between 1 to 3 inches of snow also is expected in the Canton area on Thursday, according to the weather service.
