The Most Striking Images From Egypt’s Massive Protests (PHOTOS)

First Turkey, then Brazil, now Egypt is the latest country to erupt under mass protests against a regime it finds increasingly intolerable.

According to reports, 22 million Egyptians recently signed a petition calling for the immediate resignation of President Mohammed Morsi. That growing disdain for Egypt's president is what precipitated this weekend’s protests, which some are calling the largest that the country has ever witnessed.

Anti-government protestors call Morsi a fascist and complain that his overreaching goal is to turn the historically secular country into an extreme Islamist state—quashing the rights of women, non-Muslims and critics—instead of addressing the country's dire economic issues.

Dear World, pay attention: Muslims protesting in the millions against Islamism. This is Historic. #June30

Morsi isn't without his supporters, but protestors have decreed they won't leave the streets until Morsi resigns. Their efforts have earned them a global audience. #June30 is their hashtag on Twitter and it's been trending worldwide all day.

What follows are some of the most powerful images coming out Egyptian demonstrators' social media feeds right now.
