Mother’s Day Brunch Spots: 4 Chicago Eateries Among America’s Best

CHICAGO, IL — After Mom had to take a back seat to the COVID-19 pandemic for two years in a row, don’t leave her behind this year because you failed to make a reservation for some of the most-sought-after tables in the Chicago, including the four area restaurants named to OpenTable’s list of the 100 Best Brunch Spots in America.

This year, Mother's Day falls on Sunday, May 8.

In the Chicago area, restaurants making OpenTable's list are:

  • 3 Arts Club Cafe at RH Chicago – This eatery is in the Grand Central Garden courtyard at RH Chicago, a 70-square-foot design gallery in the Gold Coast. The cafe offers a "menu of timeless classics for brunch and dinner," along with a high-end wine selection.

  • Cabra – A Peruvian-inspired rooftop restaurant by "Iron Chef" Stephanie Izard at Chicago's Hoxton Hotel.

  • Café Ba-Ba-Reeba – The self-proclaimed "Chicago's original tapas bar" serves authentic Spanish cuisine.

  • Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant – The New Lenox location of the "upscale casual restaurant" and winery chain also made the list.

OpenTable said an analysis of its data shows Mother’s Day reservations to its clients are up 39 percent compared with pre–pandemic 2019, and up 13 percent compared with 2021.

And in a survey of 1,255 adults, 45 percent said they plan to make up for time lost with their mothers and mother figures during the pandemic by “going big” this year. And 48 percent of moms surveyed said their ideal Mother’s Day involves going out to brunch or dinner.

Among those, nearly half (47 percent) are opting for brunch. The most popular cuisines represented on the list are American (30 percent), French (19 percent), contemporary American (11 percent) and seafood (10 percent).
