A mother described as "one in a million" died suddenly on the sofa next to her three-year-old daughter.

Nicole Barnes, 29, a mother-of-four from Huyton, Merseyside, was with her youngest daughter Delilah when she was found dead at her home last Monday.

Her cause of death is not yet known.

She was discovered after her children's school rang her partner, Craig Galloway, 36, to say they hadn't been collected.

A friend found Barnes and tried to resuscitate her until paramedics arrived, but her family were told a short time later she had died.

She leaves behind four children, Nieve, 10, Scott, seven, Tom, five and Delilah, three.

Her cousin, Kim Jowett, 36, has set up a GoFundMe fundraising page to help support Craig, who is training to be a carpet fitter, and their children. It has raised more than £15,000 so far.

Jowett said: "She picked up Delilah at 11.30am from nursery and was expected to pick her other children up later.

"She just passed away on the couch. She was an absolutely gorgeous young girl. She didn't have a bad bone in her body.

"She was an absolutely amazing mum and she did everything with such grace. She was a better mum than I ever could be."

Jowett added: "She was such a gorgeous soul. No one in the world could ever say a bad word about her.

"This is going to be so hard for Craig. It is so sad she has lost her life and left her four poor babies behind. She was one in a million. She left such an amazing impression on everyone's hearts and her children will never forget that."

Barnes's friends have organised a "fundraiser cup" in her memory to raise money for her children.

It will take place at King George V Playing Fields at Longview Lane, Huyton, at 12pm on Saturday, 15 October.
