The Hamilton County Coroner's Office has identified the woman killed in a Thanksgiving Day fire in Newport as 47-year-old Teresa Osborne.

Osborne died a day after the blaze that happened at her family's home in the 700 block of Overton Street, which also sent her husband and daughter to the hospital.

A fire official at the scene on Thanksgiving said the fire was reported around 6:45 p.m.

The fire was extinguished within nine minutes of firefighters’ arrival, but there was extensive smoke damage, the official said.

He said there were no working smoke detectors in the home.

Officials have not said what caused the fire.

Another fire gutted a Florence home Thursday night, sending a resident to the hospital with minor injuries.

Flames broke out around 7:45 p.m. in the 1600 block of Hampshire Place in Florence.

Heavy fire was visible from the roof at one point, prompting crews to sound a second alarm to bring more manpower and equipment.

The rapidly-growing blaze gutted the home, which was declared a total loss. A damage estimate was not available.
