Pit bulls attack mother, son in Southern California
LOS ANGELES – Two people are recovering from injuries after they were mauled by a pack of pit bulls in Azusa on Tuesday, authorities said.
The attack occurred around 11:30 a.m. in the 5000 block of North Orangecrest Avenue where deputies responded to reports of dogs attacking someone in a backyard, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Four dogs, all pit bulls, had attacked a man in his 20s and his mother, officials confirmed. Their injuries were not life-threatening.
L.A. County Animal Care and Control officers also responded to the home and impounded all four dogs, which will be held in quarantine by the department until the owner relinquishes control, a spokesperson told KTLA 5 News.
It is not immediately clear if the family was breeding the dogs at the home.
This incident comes two weeks after a man who was breeding pit bulls at his home in Compton was mauled to death in his own backyard. His body was found inside a kennel.
Authorities seized five adult pit bulls and eight puppies from the home, all of which were later euthanized.
