SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — Don't let Mom get short shrift on her big day because you're hunkering down at home. You still can set a splendid spread this Sunday, Mother's Day, as restaurants throughout San Diego County are stepping up with take-out and delivery specials.

Highlighted below are some of the top options available from nearby eateries, including local hot-spots Blade 1936, The Henry and Monello & Bencotto, plus such chains as Olive Garden, Marie Callender's and CPK.

BLADE 1936: Treat your mom to a four-course, take-out Mother’s Day meal featuring a choice of Caprese or Blade Chopped Salad; choice of mushroom and cheese white lasagna or pre-baked Margherita pizza kit; choice of braised short rib, whole roasted chicken, pistachio-crusted pork loin or lemon fennel roasted chilean sea bass; with a decadent Dolce della Mama for dessert. BLAZE PIZZA: Dads will be busy, while moms relax with this Mother’s Day promotion, available Sunday, May 10. The "Dad Duty DIY Pizza Kit" features enough fresh scratch-made pizza dough, sauce and customizable toppings for four small pizzas. BRUEGGER'S BAGELS: Would Mom like breakfast in bed? CALIFORNIA PIZZA KITCHEN: Perfect for Mother's Day: CPK's Spring Meal Kits come with everything you need and an easy-to-follow recipe. Choose from chicken, salmon, or ribeye with a side of spinach artichoke dip, sourdough baguette, Caesar salad, potatoes, and Butter Cake with vanilla Haagen-Dazs ice cream. EDDIE V'S: The restaurant's Mother's Day to-go menu features a four-course, dinner with a choice of herb-roasted tenderloin or miso-marinated Chilean sea bass. The $195 package serves four to six. Entrees come with truffle macaroni and cheese, asparagus, potato gratin, bananas Foster butter cake, plus hand-dipped chocolate strawberries and a long-stem rose. EL POLLO LOCO: Check out this special for Loco Reward members: the $20 Familia Dinner available for Mother’s Day weekend that includes 12 pieces of fire-grilled chicken, three large sides, tortillas and salsa. To redeem the deal, from May 8 through May 10, Loco Rewards members can purchase through El Pollo Loco drive-thrus, ahead via mobile pick-up, take-out or get it delivered. FLOWER CHILD: This restaurant, that prides itself on offering healthy eats, has a Family Pack for four to six starting at $40, offering a choice of chicken, steak or salmon for +$8, a large chopped vegetable salad and choice of two large sides. Beer and bottled wine are 50-percent off. And a 35-percent discount, not valid with other promotions, is offered on curbside pick-up and delivery orders placed Sunday through Thursday. The $70 package serves four to six and includes: herb-roasted Scottish salmon; grilled chicken with toasted couscous with broccoli & parmesan; roasted brussel sprouts & cauliflower; spinach & black kale salad with apricot, black currant, marcona almond, Irish cheddar and cider vinaigrette; and white pound cake with raspberry marmalade. MARIE CALLENDER’S: Keep brunch tasty and easy with Marie Callender's new Quiche Brunch to-go meal. Included: a whole quiche; fresh strawberries; whipped cream; and orange juice. A champagne option is available at some locations. Re-heating is required for the quiche, and prices vary by store. MONELLO & BENCOTTO: On Mother's Day, Monello and Bencotto will offer a $70 take-out, four-course dinner for two featuring Milanese fare paired with a bottle of peach bellini. The offer includes: two Caesar salads; an appetizer choice of Eggplant Parmigiana or Salumi & Formaggi; Conchiglie Ripiene as an entrée – shell pasta with spinach, ricotta cheese and besciamelle sauce with the option to add sausage; and two Mango Tiramisus for dessert. A Grilled Chicken Family Meal is $34.95 and serves four to five, with grilled adobo chicken, beans and rice, the eatery's signature three-cheese queso, pico de gallo, salsa, cheese, tortillas and a large bag of chips.
