From Mother's Day markets to brunches, here's what to do in Sioux Falls for Mom this weekend

Mother’s Day presents an opportunity to cherish our mothers and other important women in our lives.

In a non-exhaustive fashion, here is an overview of the events, such as markets and bazaars, church dedications, dining options, and even racing in Sioux Falls and surrounding communities planned for the special weekend to celebrate the special people in our lives.

Mother's Day Market

Severance Brewing Company and Lola Belle Studio are hosting Mother’s Day Market on 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. During the event, the visitors will get a chance to build their own flower bouquets and get permanent jewelry by Lola Belle Studio.Jenna Flatten, hoppiness coordinator from Severance Brewing Company, explained permanent jewelry is a chain or a bracelet customers can purchase and get locked permanently on them on the site of the purchase.

Photo Booth and prints with Kelcey Schroder Photography, as well as gifts from the neighboring Rose & Eugene art gallery and gift shop and snacks from Overboard Charcuterie will also be available. Those who signed up will also get a chance to win a custom planter box.“A sweet little market for all of the mommas out there!” invite the organizers on their Facebook page.

Mother's Day Season Opener

More daring families might enjoy racing as well as bazaars, markets, and bake sales. Northwest Tire, a new store with a grand opening planned for the end of May, is sponsoring a Mother’s Day Season Opener planned for Sunday, at 2012 S Splitrock Blvd in Brandon, said Mike Buss, the store manager.“The 2023 Season Starts with a Bang,” reads the organizers' invite on social media.Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. Hot laps will start at 6:30 p.m. Adult tickets at the gate will cost $20, student tickets for those aged 13 to 18 will cost $10 at the gate, while tickets for the kids aged 12 and younger are free.Tickets purchased online in advance cost $17 for adults and $8 for teens.

Mother's Other Day

Oragetheory Fitness provides free one-hour group classes by certified coaches for all on Monday, which they call the Mother’s Other Day. The classes will include weights, water rowers and treadmills, said Jill Ericson, Oragetheory Fitness head coach. She said their coach principles are based on scientific research, and are beneficial for health, especially possible cardiac issues.

“We are a full body full workout,” Ericson said. “We are focusing on real-time results,”

A few options are also available for those who seek spiritual rituals to mark the special occasion. Harvest Church officials said that conforming with their belief that children are a gift from the Lord, they give an opportunity for their parishioners to celebrate the mothers with a special service planned for 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.First Reformed Church in Sioux Falls will also be celebrating women in between their traditional service at 8:30 a.m. and modern service at 10:30 a.m. with an outside coffee hour. Rainy Day Coffee Co. for the ladies will be on the organizers.

Mother's Day brunches and dinners around Sioux Falls

While some prefer spiritual food, others like to allow themselves to indulge in more tangible delicacies on festive occasions. For them Sioux Falls offers special dining opportunities to celebrate their loved ones this weekend.Holiday Inn will be having a Mother’s Day brunch starting at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday. Adult prices are $24.95, seniors $21.95, children aged 6-12 are $14.95, and children 5 and under eat for free. Reservations can be made at 605-339-2000.“Enjoy a brunch specially designed for moms as there will be waffles, fruit, cinnamon rolls, and more!” invites the Holiday Inn on Facebook. Dada Gastropub also invites Sioux Falls residents for a special Sunday brunch with live music played by local musician Kevin Ryan from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Another Mother’s Day brunch will be served at Blue Rock Bar and Grill for $32.99.That will include grilled salmon with citrus sauce, oven roasted pork loin with black garlic chimichurri, chicken rosa, and chef carved prime rib. Kids menu options for $14.99 are also available for the kids aged 6-12; the children under 5 eat free. Reservations are available at 605-271-2500.Blarney Stone Pub also hosts a Mother’s Day brunch called “Dinner in Dublin'' planned from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. It is similar to other events in this series, but mothers get a free angel homemade food cake dessert while supplies last, said Joseph Cassidy, bar manager at Blarney Stone Pub.

“Come celebrate mom with dinner,” Blarney Stone Pub stated on Facebook.Harvester Kitchen invites Sioux Falls residents to taste the menu Harvester Kitchen team crafted as a homage for their mothers and grandmothers, who instilled in them the belief that “food can bring people together and make them happy.”The Mother's Day family dinner will be able to express the love and gratitude toward the mothers in the family, while at the same time offering quality time to spend with the most extraordinary women, including mothers, grandmother, great-grandmothers, stepmothers, aunts, and daughters, said the organizers on their social media page on Facebook.

“This is a simple yet meaningful way to celebrate the women who have impacted your life,” the organizers said in their Facebook invite.
