Motorcycle driver, 38, killed in Port St. Lucie crash
A 38-year-old man died late Friday night after his motorcycle struck an SUV in Port St. Lucie, police said Saturday.
The man, whom police did not identify by name or residence, was driving a Suzuki sportbike east on Southwest Port St. Lucie Boulevard at about 10:15 p.m. when he collided with a Ford Explorer that was turning left onto the boulevard from Southwest Aster Road.
The motorcycle driver was pronounced dead at an unspecified hospital, and the Explorer driver, whom police also did not identify, was not injured. No other details were immediately available.
About 18% of St. Lucie County traffic fatalities from 2015-2020 involved motorcycles, according to Ride Smart Florida, part of the Florida Motorcycle Safety Coalition. That share was roughly 14% in Indian River County and 25% in Martin County.
