Motorcycle rider dies in vehicle crash near Belleview

A two-vehicle crash killed a motorcycle rider on Tuesday.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers identified the victim only as a 31-year-old man from Spring Valley, Minnesota. The crash occurred at Southeast 92nd Loop and 123rd Lane in Belleview.

According to law enforcement officials, a 53-year-old woman from Belleview was eastbound on Southeast 123rd Lane, approaching the intersection of Southeast 92nd Loop. Authorities said the motorcycle rider was southbound on Southeast 92nd Loop.

The woman, who was driving a Hyundai Elantra, stopped at the stop sign at 92nd Loop. Troopers said she then drove into the path of the motorcycle rider. The motorcycle, a Harley-Davidson, hit the car on the driver's side.

The motorcycle rider was transported to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital, where he later died. Troopers said the crash occurred at 6:20 p.m.

Officials said the woman was running an errand and did not see the motorcycle rider. FHP officials said the woman, who was not injured, was shaken after the crash.
